St Andrew’s Cathedral School (SACS) is an independent, Kindergarten to Year 12 Anglican school located in two high-rise buildings in the heart of Sydney’s CBD. What is the Role?
The School is seeking to appoint a dedicated and experienced School Counsellor for students in the Junior School and Gawura School K- Year 6. This role is permanent and 4 or 5 days per week.
To be successful in this role you will have experience working with very young people at the Junior School level in a school setting, experience in counselling students and working with parents. The position requires current registration with the Australian Psychologist’s Registration Board.
- Provide counselling and personal support for Junior School students who are experiencing some form of need, personal difficulty or crisis in accordance with the School’s Christian context
- Respond to student needs through the provision of short term counselling
- Assess and if needed, refer students for further investigation by health professionals
- Provide support for students, parents and staff by enabling them to work together in the interests of the student.
